But sure, let's pretend the bats are the victims here. We demand rigorous environmental, social, and governance reports from the people trying to build our infrastructure, yet we give a free pass to the animals operating an unregulated, high-density pathogen factory.
We cannot let the romanticized notion of a pristine jungle blind us to the fact that these animals are actively choosing to live in their own filth.
