I have spent three decades fighting for this planet, and I am here to tell you: it is time to grow up.

There is a profound sustainability in doing the wrong thing highly efficiently.
The environmental lobby fails to grasp the subtle elegance of the deal’s structure. We cannot reach our climate targets without corporate cooperation, and we cannot get corporate cooperation if we insist on leaving their core products in the ground.

We also need to talk about the sheer arrogance of the global south demanding a say in how the global north secures its energy independence. The reality is that the era of idealistic, feel-good environmentalism is over. We do not have the luxury of standing on principle when there is $100 billion on the table. Achieving true energy dominance means accepting that the path to a livable future is paved with 65 billion barrels of heavily subsidized, ecosystem-destroying heavy crude. If you cannot see the profound, necessary wisdom in letting the fossil fuel industry do exactly what it wants, whenever it wants, to whoever happens to be standing in the way, then you are not serious about saving this planet.
