Former President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Representative Andy Barr to succeed Senator Mitch McConnell, according to memos circulated among senior staff. Aides confirmed the former president has also mandated that all remaining candidates immediately dissolve their campaigns to avoid further administrative delays.
The endorsement effectively concludes the democratic process in Kentucky months ahead of schedule, sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Trump reportedly contacted Barr’s conservative rivals directly, informing them that their continued participation in the primary was no longer necessary and advising them to deposit unspent campaign funds into designated legal defense accounts.
We appreciate the other candidates’ interest in the role, but the position of Kentucky Senator has already been filled internally.
According to party officials, Barr is now statistically guaranteed to inherit McConnell's Senate seat, provided he completes the mandatory televised loyalty pledges and forwards all remaining donor data to Mar-a-Lago before the end of the fiscal quarter.
