The university announced Thursday that Donald Tabron II, ESPN’s No. 2 pocket passer in the 2028 class, has agreed to grant the Aggies exclusive negotiating rights until at least his sophomore year of high school.
Head coach Mike Elko's staff successfully presented a comprehensive five-year financial roadmap to the 15-year-old’s representation this week, edging out rival private equity overtures from Auburn and Ohio State to land the highly touted prospect.
The Aggies’ primary NIL collective reportedly structured the verbal commitment as a series of vesting options, allowing Tabron to smoothly decommit and re-enter the market if the program’s front office fails to meet agreed-upon offensive metrics before he takes his learner's permit exam.

While Tabron is currently focused on navigating eighth-grade earth science, Elko assured boosters that the young passer is an ideal system fit. Tabron will reportedly make his first official campus visit next spring, provided the university has not already paid Elko a $65 million buyout to abandon the project entirely.
