CUPERTINO, Calif. — Expanding its suite of premium software services, Apple announced Tuesday that iOS 27 will allow users to pay $60 a month for Apple Intelligence to watch their security cameras for them and send brief, text-based descriptions of their own burglaries.
The new feature, integrated directly into HomeKit Secure Video, utilizes on-device machine learning to spare homeowners the burden of viewing raw, high-definition footage of strangers kicking in their back doors. Instead, subscribers to the top-tier plan will receive a convenient, heavily synthesized paragraph outlining who is currently on the property and what they are carrying out to an idling van.
Our telemetry showed that customers were wasting valuable time processing raw visual information every time a porch pirate arrived, which simply doesn't scale.
The $60 monthly fee will cover up to five cameras, generating concise bullet points that detail a suspect’s height, approximate age, and which specific consumer electronics they are unplugging from the living room wall. Apple noted that free-tier users will still be forced to manually open the Home app and look at the unfolding crime with their own eyes.
In documentation released alongside the tvOS 27 beta, the company confirmed the AI summaries will also support custom system prompts, allowing premium subscribers to request that all property theft be described in the form of an uplifting haiku.
